Location

Rooted in the lumber, salt and fishing industries that grew rapidly following the Civil War, the City of Manistee features Victorian charm in a waterfront setting. Located on the sandy shores of Lake Michigan and adjacent to both Manistee Lake and Manistee National Forest, the area boomed in the late 1800's and enjoyed a prosperity that is evident today in Manistee's historic buildings.
