  About the marina

Brewers Dauntless Shipyard Since the late 1600s, Essex has been a small town whose primary business is the marine trades. In that sense, nothing has really changed in 300 years. The first warship owned by the United States - the 24-gun Oliver Cromwell - was built in Essex. Years later, the British raided Essex during the War of 1812. History is everywhere in Essex, which is one reason why it's such a great cruising destination or home port for your boat - there's so much to see and do in and around town. Many of the town's early buildings are still in active use, and marine-related storefronts are everywhere. In Essex, the past and the present merge.
